This week’s Contrabass Conversations episode features an interview with double bassist Guy Tuneh, conducted over a distance of thousands of miles. It was a real pleasure to get to sit down and chat with Guy–he’s a warm, intelligent, and passionate individual, and these traits come through in his speaking just like they do in his bass playing. You can visit him online at www.guytuneh.com. You will also get a chance to hear the great jazz bassist Lonnie Plaxico perform two tunes on this episode, and you can check out Lonnie at www.lonnieplaxico.com. Enjoy!

David
Mr. Tuneh is right!
the germans dont like someone who can think in his own way.
he did not say it, but if you know them you will also fill it!
paul
Ciao Jason,
can you ask Maestro Tuneh for an internet lesson (via Webcam) ????
something like a free lesson to the world.
i think a lot of people would like it and will happy, it can realy help to me, but allso to others. Maestro Tuneh has good head!!
thank U.!
Eli
One of the most intresting things with Guy,its his tec.
Jason, it can be realy cool if you’d ask him more about his tec.
so, pleace ask him in the next half of the interview, about his way of playing the bass.
thank you.
Jastin

Manfred
Good day,
i was very interesting,to hear the interview with Mr.Tuneh.
for me was it very hard to understand the interview.
Herr Tuneh is very inteligent & i need time to understand his idees.
but not only because of this, the sound was not so good.
its a pitty because Mr.Tuneh has been saying very importent
smart thinks. ( also about us , the Germans)
so,for the next time, Mr.Jason, try please, to make the sound of the interview better.
Danke.
Alesandra
Just imagine , his philosophy in every classic profi orchestra.
this Guy is fantastic!!!
woww
Edmin
Jason, i would like to take lessons with Maestro Tuneh.
can U help me to find him?
would like to speak with him personly.
thanks.
Jason
Thanks for all of the wonderful comments, and I will be sure to pass them along to Guy. We did talk more about technique later on in the interview, as well as his bass and bow, plus many other interesting issues regarding the bass. You’ll be hearing that in the next segment of our interview, which will come out in a few weeks.
If anybody would like to get in touch with Mr. Tuneh, they can do so by visiting his website at http://www.guytuneh.com.
Getting good sound quality when interviewer/interviewee are so far apart (thousands of miles across the globe) can be difficult, and I worked a lot on cleaning up the audio. I know that it is a little hard to hear everything during the interview due to the audio, but I cleaned it up with software as much as possible. If you listen to some of the other interviews, you will see that the fidelity during the interviews can often sound like we’re in the same room. Once recorded, it is hard to increase the fidelity beyond a certain point.
Still, one can get such a sense of what a great artist Guy Tuneh is, and what a fantastic bass player as well as musician. Stay tuned in future weeks to hear more from Mr. Tuneh, and please browse through older episodes to hear more interviews from bass players! We’ve got some very exciting new interviews coming up, so stay tuned!
martha
Maestro Tuneh’s words are still making my heart worm.
i heard your interview with him more than six times.
everytime i can find new things to think about!
his videos are fantastic (i mean how he play that bass)
it is so good & importent that people from his kind are getting the stage.
he did so long way, he understand how the things are working and he did understand it alone.
amazing person, we need more people like him in the music world!!!!! (there are so many nobobys, that think that they are god).
well jason(& people), Maestro Tuneh is one of his kind…….
only because he is nice, not laying to him self (& his fans),and live in the world of looking at him self & try to be better
and asking “what can i do better” makes him in his way so special.
and i DONT think that he thinks that he is God.he knows him self
and what he can do.(i never heard a musion speaks so about himself & other thinks ,most of them are trying to make themselfs the greatest ,storyes about what and with who they did,bla bal…… & they are so sure that they are the best !….). Mr.Tuneh go on, you are the best of all of them!!
marc
I try to get a contact with Mr.Tuneh, as you said via his
web. i gut an email from his sopprt team, they are realy nice
and fast but they told me that he is on tour with D. Barenboim.

Guy Tuneh is amazing good bass player, i saw hin in concert of
villa musica he is veary active on stage, alot of present of stage.
on other bassist(or other musion) has his stage personality.
good to see & to hear him again.
Emil
I knows Mr. Tuneh’s playing from a concert that he played with an orchestra in swisserland.
he was the first bass player of six, he was leading them amazing.
everyone went after him, even some of the cellos.
great orchestra player, amazing soloist.
i am looking for the chance to see him as a chambr musion.
for alomg time Mr. Tuneh was intresting me, thanks to You,Jason,
i got more information about him, that i couldnt get in other way,
or, to speak with him alone, something that i didnt got the chance to.
Tomy
Wowww…
great bass player!!!
sorry that most of the musions, will not understand what he speaks about! (they will be mad and think who needs this)
well, he is amazing person !, lets hope that he will stay like this.
lets hope that the others will not make him crazy…. .
i heard about Prof. BADILA, who was a player with the same philosophy like Mr. Tuneh, everybudy tryed to make him down!
we sould learn to sopport people like Guy they are very importent
for the bass/music world, we can only learn from them!!!
Mr. Tuneh May god be with You .
Yoni
Tomy is right!
so many as h….ls .
tuneh is too importent, to listen to this kind of people.
Maestro Tuneh ,be strong.
N.B – what a great bass player!!
Migel
Maestro Tuneh is person of everybudy! he is like a simbol, he dont act like he is special – but he is!
i like people who true to there fans & most importent to themmself.
he is not making games how great he is- But he is more than great!!
his motives are real love to music & his bass, not crazy EGO.
we sould all learn from him, specialy the other musions.
Migel
Put it in the radio!! & loud, very very very loud!!
that all of them will hear it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
(there is a chance that they will learn some thing realy importent)
"mandy"
i am a profi. musion.
what i learnd, when someone is nice to you, smile, try to be your frind ,in the end he will f..k you. (nature of some people)
Maestro Tuneh is from other kind, if he dont like you he will show you this, or will not speake with you. ( no pocker face)
he is true . he will never say somthing that he dont think like.
he will never play games with you, because of this he is a noble
person.in the moment of making music with him you will forget all
the games, you will find yourself doing or thinking about the music.
so.. when you have nothing to “say” as a musion you may start
not to like him, but its not becaue of him, its because of YOU!!
i worked with Maestro Tuneh, he is great, charming & noble person
that we all can learn from him.(if we dont have crazy EGO).
Everybody can hear in that amazing interview, what i am trying to say in that comment.
(a Viola player who played with the Maestro)
"Roger"
It will take alot of time to find out Mr. Tuneh’s idees(acoustic, artist, philosophy).as an orchestra bass player,i can only say, i’d never find the time to think about this.(because i have to play in the orchestra).
But even if i’d have that time i still dont know if i could get it!
Mr. Tuneh’s way of thinking is a head, i dont know if the bass players of our time are ready for this kind of philosophy, some of them ,are still thinking that the Bass place is in an orchestra !
i didnt realy get his idees but i think they are good & clever!
Alfred
What a great Artist !!!!
Jery
What a great bass player!
Angel
Hi ..
i think that in some years Mr.Tuneh will be the greatest bass player of our time!!
Mr. Tuneh if you read this comment, go on your way, i am sure its not easy, but what is easy life for you, i am sure that you are not the type that wont to have the easy way.
